We welcome all special needs athletes, from age 3 and up.
To compete in the Special Olympics competitions, minimum age restrictions may apply.
The Monarchs are a non-profit collaborative initiative to enable special needs ice skating and hockey.
The Monarchs offer two on-ice programs:
Learn to Skate
Learn basic skating skills as part of a group session
Skating assist devices can be made available
Skates and helmet are available from the ice rink (while supplies last)
On-ice coaches will determine the skater’s readiness to graduate into the hockey program
While we strive for one on one training in our Learn to Skate program, we rely on volunteers to help out on the ice
Learn to Play Hockey
Learn basic hockey skills as part of a group session (we may be able to provide buddies if needed)
Skates and helmets are available from the ice rink (while supplies last)
Hockey protective gear may be available to loan out depending on sizes available. All hockey players must wear a hockey helmet with full face cage and pads
Attend competitive games/tournaments (based on interest and availability)
Figure Skating (Coming Soon based on interest)
We are collecting information on interested participants. If there is enough demand, we will work to deliver this program. If you are interested, please email us at [email protected]
Feel free to distribute this flyer to anyone interested in The Monarchs!
